Berlin Wrap-Up

To all our faithful followers – sorry for the lag in information and ridiculous photographs.
after two more days in the city-turned-ice-skating-rink and a depressing loss for the NY Jets, we were happy to return to the relatively tropical (read: snowing) air of Paris.
Some highlights from the trip include:
1. Trafton attempting to pee into illzy’s closet at 5 am on Sunday morning — when she strongly suggested “NO TRAFTON DONT” he replied “I shouldn’t?”
2. While watching the Jets game at an American sports bar on Sunday evening, we encountered a fellow ex-pat who had been living in Berlin for 15 years. He smoked us up in the nearby U-Bahn station, and proceeded to tell us that the U-Bahn was efficient and that Berlin is not a big city. LIES.
3. Illzy wasn’t feeling so well on Sunday morning, and Faisa, our new friend, was very concerned that it was because Illzy is pregnant. Don’t we all wish.
4. On Sunday evening we were drunk enough to venture to “The Best Currywurst” joint in Berlin. It was a mediocre hotdog covered in bad european ketchup and curry powder. Whackest local cuisine ever.
5. After a small rift between boys and girls about a 10.50 euro elevator ride up the tallest building in Berlin, we split up. Julia et Julia took the elevator ride, and les hommes went to the DDR (Deustchland Democratic Republik) Museum. The DDR museum sucked, and Julia et Julia had a wonderful time overlooking the whole city. Muahahaha.

Day One Auf Berliner

After our successful arrival against all odds at the metro-stop located less than a block from our hostel, we embarked on what we thought would be a wonderful 3 and 1/2 hour walking toor of Berlin.

Well, FYI, it is very very very cold in Berlin. Like, we were confused for a little while because we thought we might have accidentally flown to St. Petersburg. There are four inches of ice lining the sidwalks and the roads, and despite all attempts to layer and bulk up for the day, less than thirty-five seconds into the tour we were already whimpering. Says Tito “I was legitimately concerned at some point that might be losing toes as I walking.”

We did make two friends today. Faisa, who wanted to make sure we weren’t on a romantic honeymoon before she asked if she could tag along with us for the day. Obvi said “pas du tout” and ditched her as soon as possible. Nikolai was our toor guide, and he was something else. Very passionate about Berlin, and tips. He made us say “Yes We Can” whenever he decided to say “Obamaland” throughout the toor. At least we aren’t British, they had to say “God Save The Queen.” The Canadiens had to play like moose, as if being from Canada isn’t embarassing enough already.

Now, after waking up from our 3 hour nap in good spirits and smelly clothes, (sobel specifically), we are going to go drink beer out of steins and sample some sausages (size does matter – shape is irrelevant).

It’s 4:30 in the morn here in Paris, but ve are currently on our way to Berlin yaaaaaaaa. what this really means is that for the next 72 hours nothing but sausage and beer will enter our mouths. And that, my friends, is a promise.

On another note, for those of you that are dying to know more about Trafton throwing ilzy under the bus, here’s something to tide you over while you wait:

T: “So Julia do you think you got the job?”
J: “Yes. I think I got it.”
T: “Hmmmm yea I’m not so sure about that…”

I’d say the plot’s getting prettaaaay pretttaaaay juicy. Feel free to share your thoughts on the matter. we’d love to hear from our fans!
